  A long-standing member of the Ohio Association of Justice and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Mr. Chappars has successfully represented clients in personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, products liability, and insurance bad faith litigation, having tried in excess of 100 jury trials to verdict and argued twice before the Ohio Supreme Court.  Mr. Chappars has been a trial lawyer in the greater Dayton, Ohio area for over 38 years.  Graduating Salutatorian from Beavercreek High School in 1970, Mr. Chappars went on to graduate from Duke University cum laude in 1974, and the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1978.  Mr. Chappars resides in Sugarcreek Township, Greene County, Ohio with his wife Laurie A. Chappars and daughter Madeline Chappars, a competitive tennis player and equestrian.

    Timothy S. Chappars, Esq. has 38+ years of experience licensed in the State of Ohio representing clients in in both state and federal court.  Mr. Chappars has been the sole or lead attorney in several high profile Ohio cases.  Exemplar cases include representing the estate of a young girl struck by a hockey puck at Nationwide Arena after which the National Hockey League adopted safety netting at stadiums; the estate of a student whose jacket drawstrings became entangled in a school bus handrail resulting in her fatality; the estate of a 16 year old driver's training student who slid on icy roads and lost control of a motor vehicle while his instructor was in the passenger seat, striking an oncoming truck resulting in his fatality; the claims of two brothers seriously injured when their vehicle was struck by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper traveling at a high rate of speed without activated lights; and a serious medical negligence claim resulting from a misdiagnosis of molar pregnancy.  He has obtained numerous six- and seven- figure recoveries in personal injury and wrongful death cases resulting from automobile, truck, and motorcycle accidents; premises liability accidents; workplace accidents; sporting and recreational activities including equine-related claims; medical malpractice and nursing home claims; legal malpractice; and products liability, including cases involving automobile manufacturers, forklifts, concrete crushers, and telescoping boom lifts.

    Reported cases of note include Leforge v. Nationwide, 82 App.3d 692 (1992), in which an Ohio appellate court affirmed a jury verdict against an insurer for the tort of bad faith handling of an insured's claim; and Elam v. Hyatt Legal Services, 44 Ohio St.3d 175 (1989), pertaining to legal duties owed by an attorney to a fiduciary and to those parties in privity with the fiduciary in a legal malpractice case.

   Chappars Law Office has represented claimants injured outside the state of Ohio as well, both individually and in partnership with other law firms.  Exemplar cases include a significant six-figure recovery for a client's shattered leg from a motor vehicle accident while in New York traveling to a ski facility, a similar settlement for a serious ski accident case in Colorado caused by a reckless downhill skier, and a legal malpractice case against an out-of-state attorney who breached duties owed to his client who had been injured at a race track. 

    Mr. Chappars has been included in multiple additions of Who’s Who In America and Who's Who in American Law, a noted publication founded in 1899 to list those individuals who are of national interest because of meritorious achievement.

   Cases are typically referred to the office from other attorneys and former or present clients.  Chappars Law Office does not advertise on television or billboards.  Although Chappars Law Office cannot accept all cases, upon careful screening, if the case is accepted, Chappars Law Office will provide aggressive representation in the case.  All calls are typically returned promptly when possible.  Chappars Law Office has a 24/7 live answering service.  Clients will be copied with correspondence and pleadings. Fees are on a contingent basis and potentially negotiable where circumstances so warrant.
